Gymnocalycium

Gymnocalycium, known as "Chin Cactus", are globular cacti with pronounced ribs that often are notched with tubercles that form protuberances below the areoles that are commonly referred to as "chins". Flowers are usually 2" to 3" in diameter, and can be white, white with red centers, pale pink, deep rose and sometimes a coppery red. Smooth body with well-marked ribs, straight or spiral, notched into warts or tubercles with a more-or-less pronounced protuberance or "Chin" below the areoles. Flowers are large and tubular (only tubular at base, then flare into wide open flower) in pink, white or red.
